A. Name: Sydney Reed Lehane B. Zodiac Sign and/or Hogwarts House: Scorpio C. Circumstances of Conception: It isn't romantic like in the movies, where two star-fated lovers cross paths, fall into hate, then learn to fall into love. It's about loneliness and fear and the need to feel alive when you think there's nothing left to care about except duty. It's about finding comfort with someone who understands you, who knows the places you've been and the things you've done. And if they judge you for them, at least they judge themselves just as severely.
She doesn't tell him she's pregnant, he's halfway around the world from her when she finds out anyway. She's always done everything on her own, this is no different, and if there's a joke in Syd's name that only she gets, then she'll never have to explain to anyone why she chose it. He's a strong little boy, a lot like his mother except with hazel eyes and a sometimes too-serious look that makes her consider picking up the phone just for that moment.
He sees her with her son a few years later, but he doesn't do the math until they're gone again. He tries to write but she doesn't answer his letters, and he thinks it might be for the best anyway. When he's fourteen he wants to be a lawyer. His mother actually wishes he'd go back to the rock band idea. -2- He's afraid of clowns. He once punched a perfectly harmless carnival clown in the groin. He learned that move from his mother. -3- He knows his father is still alive and thinks he might go look for him someday, but he won't tell his mother about it.
