HOW'S MY DRIVING?

It's that time again!

Please comment here with the names of the characters you play and others will reply with their feedback- and it's obviously a given that this feedback will be helpful, constructive and respectful. Also, as amazing as getting ILU comments is, it's nice to hear why, and what we're doing right, just as much as criticism needs to be constructive.

HELLO I realize I haven't actually been around very much and, ironically, I have to post this comment and then run away BUT if you have anything to say about Lady Petrana, Ethan Rayne or Mircalla, the Countess Karnstein - PLEASE FEEL FREE.

I will even comment on other people's but you'll all have to forgive me for being VERY LATE because I get my internet at the end of this week. ♥

I have found you and I am here to tell you how your driving is. B|

In case you were wondering, you are basically The Stig (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stig) of rpers. You do an amazing amount of background work for everyone you write, fleshing them out with complex backstories and dressing them up in ornate motivations until each post and thread turn into revealing character studies that both convey who the character is immediately, reinforce the character's personality, and explore new things about him or her. IT IS BASICALLY AMAZING and I love being a part of it. And I do this completely stupid thing where I am like "idk how I am going to hook myself in with Dele's characters" and then you SWEEP IN ON A UNICORN and whisk me off to brainstormy delights. So really what I am saying is that you spoil me terribly and I adore you for it.

SPEAKING OF holy crap Petrana. Now, it is already well documented that you are a skilled pusher of Eddingsverse, and while I have only dabbled the slightest bit, you do a lovely job of nailing his phrasing and acknowledging the sorts of story arcs he subjects his characters to while translating all of it into things that other characters can interact with. I also like how she can be this tiny, powerful woman in a completely unique way, especially since, let's face it, you have a yen for tiny, powerful women. Initially I was just looking forward to Petrana for the Brucolac's sake, but now it is all about SNAPE. I should hang out in left field more often if this is the sort of thing that comes out of it! No matter where their interaction goes, I think it will be extremely interesting and delightful.

Tiny woman number two: Carmilla. Dear lord, dear lord, she is perfect. The source material doesn't give one too much to work with: it's closer to a morality story than to a modern novel with truly complex characters, but you do very well with your monster in a pretty dress. If she does come around, I think she and BB would drive each other crazy in great ways. They are both so proud and demanding, I think the CR between them would be amazing.

Ethan Rayne + Severus Snape + ??? = SWEET WEEPING NIOBE CAN WE PLEASE DO THIS?

The work that goes into my characters is half actual work and half me just poking and poking and poking and poking because I have this insane need to know everything and have it all nailed down because it makes me feel much more comfortable to be writing a character if I can call upon these small details, regardless of whether or not they will be directly address. Basically I'm insane is what I'm telling you here. Anyway, DUE TO THAT POKING I am more or less attempting to create interactive plot all the time and I am pleased that it pleases you to be subjected to my rampant enthusiasm.

Re: Petrana: I am very much looking forward to her meeting the Brucolac because I would like that, but oh my God I really enjoy our sort of loose plans for the Countess and the Professor. I like having a general sort of arc in mind, but how much room we have to maneuver within that is very useful and I am very much looking forward to seeing where that goes and how it goes. One of my favourite things about playing Petrana in Taxon is that she has never been permitted to be a person in her own right; her identity and how she's been perceived has almost invariably been tied to someone else, typically a man. In Taxon, though, she's alone and she's obliged to take all of this potential that's never had an outlet and forge her own identity and her own place and her own reputation (this part is more important than you might think) and that is essentially why I wanted to play her here, so that she could have that. And I think that our PLOTS will enable that further, whichever way they go.

On the subject of mademoiselle la comtesse de horreurs - I am still going back and forth on whether or not I will keep her here or drop her and just play her in the nexus, but it is looking more and more like she's going to remain at Taxon. I might have to reintroduce her or something insane, but yes - I haven't done much with her yet so I'm glad you approve of what little I have done! She's a challenge to write - her massive egotism, her prejudices, her power, her speech patterns - and I like writing something that forces me to work a little harder, so it's especially good to know that when I do put in that effort, I'm getting somewhere. I think Carmilla on the moon ship would be approximately the most amazing thing ever, though, and so petition you to somehow make this happen.

...HAHAHHA OH GOD. POSSIBLY??? Ethan will either immediately take a shine to him or decide he doesn't want to risk his arse.
