(which, due to the involvement of land, doesn't really sound nautical - but it totally is) but if you wanted to interpret it as 'this meme is brought to you by Dele, who is also a ho', well, I'm sure I would have difficulty finding anyone around here to strenuously disagree on my behalf. Anyway, I love this shit so, this show: let us get it on the road.

Petrana is the type of person who wants to understand other people; she's fascinated by them and she approaches them a little like the most awesome kind of puzzles there are. When she loves somebody - be it romantic, platonic or familial love - what she wants to do is to be necessary to their life. She will give the whole of herself if what she can have in return is the assurance that they need that.

So you can see, probably immediately, what the appeal is about how Dawn reacts to her. Dawn really does seem to need somebody in her life to play the role that Petra is so, so good at and she's such a sweet, intelligent young woman and Petra is completely willing to be that to her if she wants it and if she needs it and if she's comfortable with it coming from the Countess. Petra thinks what she needs more than being scolded and pushed is a firm, guiding hand and the room to make her own mistakes if she's going to make them. She does very much want to just...mother the hell out of her, but at the same time as freely doing just that she's a little wary of overstepping her bounds; they don't know each other that well and Petra is not family, she's just nosy.
