Apparently the hamsters are fond of New Jersey, as the weather is staying put with Point Pleasant. The regular every-three-days snowfall from December is no more, so keep an eye out for any major weather events.

Note: the aliens promise they will be better at snow removal than Michael Bloomberg.

FREEBIES
In an effort to make winter more bearable, for the month of January the hatches will provide free snow shovels and Chapstick, or whatever lip balm your character may desire.


EAT DRINK AND BE GLITCHED
The aliens want to start the new year off right, and obviously that means some ridiculous glitching.

For the entire month, random foods will be glitched in very specific ways. The effects of the glitch last from the first bite to two hours after the character has finished. Since the glitched food pops up at random, you are free to avoid or play with it as much or as little as you like!

Food types are as follows:

• SWEETS (candies, chocolate, alcohol, etc.): Hidden affections are known! Eat a glitched sweet, that secret crush will suddenly be a lot less secret. This can mean they will either stop caring about hiding their affection, suddenly realize they like that certain someone, or actually act on it however you like.
  
• DAIRY (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.): Lietose intolerant! Characters who partake in glitched dairy products will find themselves completely unable to lie and opting to tell nothing but the whole truth at every turn. Or at least most of the truth.
  
• MEAT (chicken, beef, blood, etc.): Forget the inhibitions, you carnivore! Getting glitched meat means characters that eat it will find themselves a lot more earnest in their endeavors, throwing caution (and also possibly less fist-involved conflict resolution) to the wayside.
  
• VEGETABLES (carrots, broccoli, peas, etc.): The truth is for losers! Those who eat glitched vegetables will be compelled to lie about every little thing, from what they're doing and where they were to their true intentions and favorite color. Think: glitched dairy only backwards.
  
• FRUITS (apples, peaches, oranges, etc.): Get back to nature! Delicious fruits that have been glitched will lead characters to opt for the easy way in any decision they have to make, be it an important life choice or whether or not they should go to the trouble of wearing pants.
  
• BREADS AND GRAINS (bread, corn, mushrooms, etc.): Let's play jump to conclusions! Consuming glitched starches will make characters just a little more jumpy, that much more paranoid, and even more willing to make ridiculous leaps of logic about their friends, enemies, and that cat they got from Santa.

SUGGESTED COMBOS INCLUDE: Ice cream or milkshakes that make the infatuation come into stark reality! Cheeseburgers that make you jump to conclusions, speak your mind about them, and then pursue your current goal relentlessly! Fruit pies that make you paranoid but very lazy about it!

Remember, every part of this glitch is ENTIRELY OPTIONAL! Bits of food will be glitched at complete random, meaning you can choose to glitch or not glitch at your leisure.


GAME HMD RESPONSE
First off, we’re very sorry for the delay in getting an official response post up. Apparently holding super officious business during Christmas is a bad idea for time management, who knew?

Anyway! The simple answers:
→ New tags! For the ease of our night-bound character(s? maybe?) there are now three new tags you can add to your post to specify what time of day it’s taking place in. They are: (night), (day), and (anytime).
→ January is free and easy, as seen above!
→ The Tablet FAQ has been edited to reflect the allowance of different formats for subject lines.

The harder answers:
→ THERE WILL BE A POLL OF MANY POLLS. Keep an eye out for a sparklytexted post going up sometime in the next week that will have polls for both February’s Major Glitch and WEATHER CHANGE, where you can nominate a location that Taxon will adopt as a weather template.

We thank you so much for being so patient with us and our responses here, and please remember that if you have any suggestions or complaints, hit us on those posts and we’ll address them as soon as we’re able. You don’t have to wait for the game HMD to let us know what you think!

Following up with the results of the game HMD and lots of modly discussion, closed posts will no longer count towards activity. Why? Because everyone deserves a fair shot at activity and more closed posts mean less posts to tag into in order for all players to meet the activity check requirements. What's been going on: B’Elanna has actually been socialising. It’s a miracle! She even went to the big party at the Northern Island. (And she brushed up on her battle skills after getting a bat’leth from Father Christmas. As you do.)

Things to do this month: I definitely want to keep working on B’Elanna’s CR. She needs to meet new people and to continue to build up relationships with the people she has already been getting to know. (If your character would like to get to know her or would like a tour of the Delta Flyer, let me know!) I like the idea of doing something with the glitched food, too. Meat that makes her lose her inhibitions and brings her already impressive temper to the fore, perhaps?

What's been going on: DG has been making the most of the festive season and enjoying the brief respite from the glitches. Presents, parties and reassuring Glitch after the … mistletoe incident. (Ok, perhaps the month hasn’t been entirely free of hamster related chaos. C’est la vie.)

Things to do this month: Well, she definitely needs to talk to Cain about the aforementioned mistletoe incident. Which won’t be awkward at all, oh no. And Keri the Tin Man cast have been plotting various horrors that will probably come to fruition before the end of the end. Apart from that, anything and everything?

What's been going on: Trolling. So much trolling. (Both in person and via the tablet. Science and technology might be evil, but leaving people in peace would be even worse.) Apart from that, Drusilla has been mourning the loss of a number of loved – or loathed, as the case may be – ones and the return of certain familiar faces. And she lost her temper after getting a lump of coal from Father Christmas, despite being a good girl – anyone really believe that? – all year.

Things to do this month: More trolling, of course. Because it’s Dru. And I really like the idea of glitched blood. I’m seeing her forgetting her chip until it’s too late – or simply not caring about it any more – and attacking a few unfortunate individuals. (Volunteers, please?) Or maybe her acting on various inappropriate crushes after she loses the few inhibitions she actually has? (Again, volunteers are welcome!)

In short, horrors. So many horrors.

What's been going on: Like most of the city, Martha has been making the most of the brief respite and doing her best to enjoy the festive period. The hamsters kindly glitched her, so she failed to notice that the Doctor had disappeared, but she did notice, respond to and attempt to comfort Fred after Wesley’s departure.

Things to do this month: Well, she’ll have to respond to the Doctor’s disappearance when she finally becomes aware of it. So … a bit of angst will certainly be on the cards. Probably followed by some sort of food related glitch. Dairy or vegetables? And the more CR the better, of course. She definitely needs to meet the city’s other resident doctor – hi, Bones! – at some point.

What's been going on: Paul has arrived in Taxon and appropriated a clock shop and the residence above it as his own after its former owner was 'sent home'. He's started a highly ambitious and dubiously practical attempt to fingerprint all the (real) people in Taxon, which he is currently working on with Michael Westen and Wyatt Cain.

He also went to the party at the Ozzie palace, playing straight man (har de har) to Jenny and being generally inappropriate.

Things to do this month: I need definitely to mess more with the fingerprinting thing. SO MUCH TO DO THERE. Additionally Paul can help organize the, er, organization? of the Law Enforcement types in Taxon, if other players and chars are on-board with that.

Just generally more CR is splendid. I love people. Paul doesn't, but he's a Grumpy McGrumperpants, so who cares?

What's been going on: Like Paul, Long is a fairly new arrival, and has found that his programmed possession (his hotel suite) has appeared in The Hyperion Hotel. So Angel and Fred have a new FRIIIEND. Well, Fred does. Right now Long thinks Angel is a woman.

Beyond that, he's made the distinct acquaintance of Drusilla via tablets, as well as many other Taxonites, and is probably altogether too curious about everyone for his own good. He also attended the Ozzie party.

Things to do this month: More CR because it is delicious? Long grousing about the cold (oh, he doesn't like being cold)? Long serving as all-purpose translator for anyone needing almost anything translated? Long discovering some of the people here know languages he's never heard of (Klingon, Galactic Base, etc) because he will be thrilled at that and want to learn.

What's been going on: Buffy has been...settling. Showing up a place she has been before (but does not remember) is more than a little unnerving so she has been uncharacteristically anti-social, even with close friends from home. She has been tentatively feeling out the population and figuring out who she feels she could trust. Also she is getting used to owning such a cool phone in the tablet.

Things to do this month: I'd really like development that might help her settle more comfortably into Taxon -- so either characters who might not have known her previous being here or who wouldn't mouth too much about it, at first. Eventually I want her to learn more about it but not until she kinda gets situated. So I'm mostly looking for friendly, tentative buddy interaction. HOWEVER if anyone wants awkward "oh god why don't you remember me" interaction, I am happy to provide!

What's been going on: STUFF. Snogging/briefly falling in love with Cain, flailing about that, meeting/shopping with Paul, discovering there's a universe where queer people are somewhat disliked and being highly confused by that, telling DG about the superpowered mistletoe, throwing a party and meeting an actualfax Gargoyle, giving DG a tiara because princess, was visited by Santa and got an awesome coat, then going out for New Year's Eve despite having a headache.

Things to do this month: STUFF. Maybe some of the food stuff at some point but mostly there's Plot (and in between the plot I am as always up for CR and trolling and shenanigans).

~LOOK LOOK THERE ARE HORRORS HERE!~ I've finally decided to do something awful with those misfiring synapses of his. Basically: there'll be a massive system malfunction followed by a cold reset and a slow...booting up. Of his half-a-brain.

SO:
1. Initially he'll have headaches and noticeably increased glitchiness.
2. RESET BUTTON: all personal history memory gone, including his name. Taxon itself will be somewhat familiar-ish, but all the people in it and how stuff works? Fwoosh, nada.
3. [insert semi-feral headcase wandering the streets and being paranoid HERE, or something]
4. After a couple days his memories start to come back (except maybe for the events in Step 3), and in time all is restored and back to normal.
5. ...aside from the fear that it might happen again because this wasn't the hamsters' fault :3

Not sure when all this will go down, but I am all in favor of HORRORS when it does. I'll do an OOC planning post to get the ducks in a row ♥

What's been going on: Katherine arrived in early December and discovered that there are a few familiar faces in Taxon, hooray~ Mostly she's been taking it easy and getting to know the place and the people (read: trolling). She met up with her descendant Elena and ironed out their "we're twin sisters" cover story to explain their physical similarity. There was mistletoe shenanigans with both Stefan and Damon (just like old times sob), and she sent the TVD crew all a snarky Christmas present.

Things to do this month: Get Katherine other lodgings than the dorms at the Sanctuary and more trolling of the innocent and not-innocent alike, of course. I don't know yet if I'm taking advantage of the food glitches, we shall see. As always, I'm open to any suggestions and plotting! TVD crew, I'm thinking she maaaay visit the boarding house uninvited sometime this month, sob. Oh, Sarah, let's at some point think of those Kat/Damon horrors. :D

What's been going on: Tara welcomed Michael Weston to Taxon (helpful as she could be). She coped with losing some friends, and helped Kaylee and Amy cope with losing theirs. Reunions with Hercules (who remembered Taxon) and Buffy, Sam and Andrew (who didn't). She helped set up the Northern Island Christmas party, congratulated Reid on his new library, and worried about Willow's attempts to bring Buffy back to Taxon - whether or not successful.

Also, met Santa.

Things to do this month: Food glitches are a go, though exactly which are yet to be determined. Also, more CR is always lovely. And if anyone wants a job, help is still wanted over at Tamper and Trick, so feel free.

What's been going on: Since coming to Taxon, Cain has been struggling with everything from the fact he's been torn away from his home after literally having been reunited with the remains of his family not three days prior (run on sentences ftw, shush) to the fact his two best friends are now a romantic unit, to the fact NOTHING MAKES SENSE TAXON YES HE MEANS YOU EVIL ALIEN OVERHAMSTERS.

He's taken to wandering the streets at night - or he did before he fell into a slump and decided not to go outside his apartment (in the Central part of town, of course) except for that time when he decided to take Kirk's welcoming wagon idea to heart and greeted a newcomer.

Then him and Smecker sort of started a very low key, unofficial Investigative Unit of Sorts.

Things to do this month: Cain needs to get out more. Also, I need to tag the Christmas party, despite it being half a month too late. >_> Woe, the Holidays ate my free time. Aaaaand backtagging.

As for Cain, he needs to get out more. I know I said that already, but it bears repeating. Any suggestions at all on how to get that to happen are more than welcome. Have at 'im! :D

What's been going on: Work, as usual. She allowed Spencer to use one of the offices at the Jeffersonian for his work, and then there was some mistletoe glitchiness with Angel. Brennan also tried her hand at the welcome wagon thing and briefly greeted Sam Axe upon his arrival but came to the conclusion that perhaps she's not the best person for the job. She was about to accost the alien Santa with a baseball bat on Christmas Eve but luckily couldn't find said bat (turns out Angela had it), but Santa gave her a lovely picture of her family from the time when she was a teen, despite this.

Things to do this month: Mostly I just need to be more active with Brennan and troll people with her a bit more. I should think about coming up with some project for her that allows her to interact with people more. I have tentative plans to bother Brennan with the food glitches; I'm likely going with the lying and/or jumping to conclusions ones as those are two things Brennan never does. As usual, I'm open to shenanigans and plotting!

What's been going on: Amy and Kate now co-own a shoe store at the Taxon mall. Come on down anytime to say hi and shop! I'm still tagging the Christmas party post, but basically she's drinking and shaking her groove thang (yeah yeah). She's also drinking at a dive bar with Sam Axe playing bartender. She's... drinking at lot more than I mean for her to, lol. Also Santa brought her presents!

And, of course, Amy is now aware that the Doctor is gone. The hamsters glitched her brain over Christmas so she didn't notice until now. And so she's a bit mopey about him up and abandoning her again like he did when she was a kid.

Things to do this month: Amy will work through her angst over the Doctor being gone, and that means reaching out to the people around her! Anyone want to do anything with Amy? I'm terrible at coming up with posts, so even anything you could suggest for Amy to be dong that your character could join in on would be great!

What's been going on: A lot of mistrustful occurrences. She blew something up and the tablet caught it, she thinks she brought Buffy back, and now she's dealing with the backlash. Currently, she's in the middle of a big round of "no one trusts me /headdekrage" so. Things've been interesting. For those who know her, she's been quieter lately, but a little snappy and she's brushing things off instead of addressing them.

Things to do this month: Building up to the Big Bang! No seriously. She got a nice book of spells from the hamsters. Anyone wanna mess around with it?

What's been going on: Trolled several people; got caught up in various holiday horrors; tried not to be a grump this year (with somewhat sucessful results, huzzah!); not into his ex-girlfriend (Buffy) being back, but playing nice at the request of Dawn and Max; got CDs from Santa and blasted the music all over Taxon.

Things to do this month: Turn twenty-seven on the fourth and pretend he's not turning twenty-seven, as being closer to thirty is a do not want for him. Get to work on the welcoming committee thing. I'll more than likely do a post soon with him asking questions and gathering info. I'm thinking that maybe we can actually stitch something together and put it on the wiki for our characters to ICly link to in the future? I've been in games in the past where people have compiled IC guides ICly and had it put up somewhere linkable, and I think that'll not only be beneficial to new players, but to new characters trying to get their bearings.

What's been going on: Dealt with his girlfriend glitching and unglitching into a vampire, as well as Katherine and Alaric showing up; made some awesome stupid decisions that are actually part of his ~master plan~ to distract Katherine that will eventually blow up in his face; met some new faces; mistletoe horrors with Katherine and River, the latter of which ended in him compelling her; got the worst/best gift ever from Santa, bonded a bit more with his brother.

Things to do this month: Everything! Probably going to do something with the food glitch, not sure. I'm debating doing an 1864!glitch sometime this month, because...well, because I can. Essentially just working more on reinforcing his CR, since he's my more sociable character, especially while pulling off the ~just a teenager~ routine he's got going for him here.

What's been going on: Tony and Mal both went home, so Kaylee was a giant mope for the first half of December, and then got out of her funk to bake cornbread and deliver presents because that's just how she rolls.

What's been going on: GOD NOTHING AT ALL. Dean got here, was greeted and trolled by people, had sex with faith, and Sam got into Taxon, but I apped right as Christmas came along so I've been busy as hell and he's done noooothinnng.

Things to do this month: EVERYTHING. Seriously, from backtags to new stuff, lay it on me. I'm thinking maybe more talking with Kaylee, talking to Buffy again and testing out the waters with that, freaking out at Sam, getting someone to show him the ropes of Taxon since stuff has changed since he left, dealing with various traumas, generally trolling posts and things and stuff. What's been going on: Dealing with having been gone for a month, then with losing Cordelia, Gunn, Spike, and even Illyria, before finally losing Wesley. It seems to have really stepped up her resolve to work on understanding the city more, even if she doesn't personally want to escape. She talked a great deal with Martha, Willow, and Spencer, and introduced herself to Mayland Long. Oh! And she got a stuffed bunny. :3

Things to do this month: She'd talked to Willow about putting together a meter for reading space-time distortions, so I think I'm going to have her working on that rather extensively. I also want her to continue analyzing data and talking with people. She may be getting a little recluse-like, considering everything that happened last month, but she'll be trying to keep an eye on that herself, since she knows it's likely. I may be glitching her a few times with the food, because...that just sounds like fun. And if anyone would like her for any plot-things, feel free to ask! I don't really have too much for her plan-wise, this month.

What's been going on: oh god arrival

Things to do this month: Try not to get murdered by Godric and anyone else? Resettling in, finding his old allies DRUSILLAAAAAAA. Uh. Probably not make many friends and lol at all his enemies. Y'know, the normal returning villain thing.

What's been going on: Elisa just arrived this month and has made a number of casual acquaintances. She just celebrated her twenty-eighth birthday, and probably in-between that and her next post, will have moved out of the Sanctuary into a top floor apartment in the city. She attended the holiday party, and is starting to get used to the idea of being able to go out in public again.

Things to do this month: Continue meeting people, start on developing friendships, possibly get find herself a job.
