FAIRY TALE AU PLANNING POST

~*~Once upon a time there were three mods, and they decided that their game could do with more once upon a time. "Needs more dragons!" said the first. "Needs more trolls!" said the second. "Needs more horrors!" said the third. And so they set about briefly changing the city of Taxon to the kingdom of Taxonia, where there would be dragons and trolls and witches and pixies and all manner of creatures of legend, fable, myth, and tale, and everyone lived happily ever after (for some value of "lived" and "happily").~*~

...which is a round about way of saying that we are fast approaching the AU glitch outlined in the State of the Taxon, which will begin on November 27th and run through December 6th. During that time, the alien's programming will be pushed to its limits to convert the city to a sprawling kingdom of lore, filled with enchanted forests, quaint villages, mystic lakes, and a spire-topped castle. Everything will have a Ye Olde Timey flair, so most modern conveniences will vanish and be replaced with Ye Olde Timey equivalents. Except for tablets. Enjoy that bit of incongruity.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR CHARACTERS: Everyone will believe themselves to be natives of Taxonia and embody characteristics of one or more fairy tale characters. Note that "fairy tale" in this instance implies just about ANY story that can begin with "once upon a time". Mash-ups are totally permissible and encouraged, and no one is locked into playing out any of the tales. There is ALSO the option of having your character be unaffected and boggle at the goings-on.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND: Fairy tales can be dark. People die, people are made into pies and eaten, things are just generally twisted. While we are totally in favor of any and all horrors, we will INSIST on including warnings on posts/comment threads which venture into these subjects. Basically: when in doubt, warn, and if we or another player comes to you saying that something needs a warning, we implore you to follow through with those requests as soon as possible.

ETA DEATH PENALTIES: Just like with the zombie plot, should a character die as a result of this event you have the option of waiving the death penalty. Your character need not loose their memories of Taxon or their programmed possession. And, as the aliens are always improving, character will not come back to the arrival room and instead reappear where they died. Of course if you WANT to play around with the death penalty then that's always cool too.

Briar is going to be a tree of some sort. I'm combining Ents, the monarch Willow from Briar's canon (because the willow trees believe there is a Queen Willow), and Grandmother Willow from Disney's Pocahontas by way of inspiration. I'm leaning toward making him a pine tree.

Anyway! He will be a tree available for conversation/advice/possible sarcasm, and he will probably be like a half-dormant Ent in terms of movement ability; he'll be mostly stationary, unless something really big prompts him to move. Feel free to poke me to have him encounter your characters and/or if you want him as part of a character's fairy tale backstory!

Little Red(headed) Riding Hood. With hair like this (http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lk2xcgPeXJ1qiwzezo1_500.jpg) I can't really help it. I'm also thinking he can do some sort of Hansel and Gretel thing with his brother, though the Cain and Abel thing would be AWESOME for angst. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

For Dwight, he needs to be some sort of beast. Either a wolf in the forest, or a Beauty and the Beast type thing.. Suggestions?

Rumpelstiltglitch in the house. I'm...going to be drawing heavily on the ABC series Once Upon A Time's version, with the fixation on making deals and bargains and then adding in Acquiring And Hoarding And Trading People's Valuables for magical favors. He'll have an even wilder version of his original hair (so he'll actually look like his icons BUT WORSE) and curly-toed shoes and tight leather trousers and much-described outerwear. SO: if you wanna make a deal with him, or have it established that he's made a deal in the past and now owns a Valuable - such as a stylish fedora - hit me up so we can hash out shenanigans!

For fun and games, all of his deals become null and void if you can tell him his name. HARD MODE: it's not Rumpelstilts~~glitch~~kin. EVEN HARDER MODE: he will be going by Glitch still, so...yeah, his REAL name is required. Yes, I do want this to happen by the end of the event. For purposes.

Still in the AAAAAAA WHAT AM I DOING STAGES, but I'm kind of leaning toward something Rapunzel-esque for Kaylee.

Also debating Thumbelina for Sandry, because obviously we need size extremes up in here.

UP FOR PLANNING AND PLOTTING and coming up with new ideas. Because that's how we roll around Taxon.

Or a Cleverly (or not so cleverly) Reimagined Wolf? :D

I have NO freaking idea what to do with James >> I'll look again and see if anything hits my fancy, but ideas are always welcome. I'm blaming holiday stuff with the family making me blah and uncreative.

Okay so, for Gwen: I will be doing a variation of The Little Mermaid, wanting to be Part of That World ("That World" being the tangible one--those who can feel and touch and be touched). She will be (hopefully!) making a deal, sacrificing something in return. I'm not sure yet what she will be sacrificing. Probably another one of her senses? Either way it will be one of those Careful What You Wish for type of things, instead of a good ending. Like maybe her face will be HORRIBLY DISFIGURED so...no one will want to touch her? Or she'll be blind. Ideas always accepted.

I THINK Illyria will be unaffected because I can't really think of something spectacular for her. I feel like she could be a good WTF (whatever that translates to in Illyria-language) pair of eyes.

Ideas about anything/plotting welcome! I'm extremely open yadda yadda.

Drusilla: You know the witch in 'Hansel and Gretel'? The one that keeps the children imprisoned in a cottage made of gingerbread, fattening up one for supper and keeping the other as a slave? Well, that is going to be Drusilla. Because the idea was too perfect to pass up. She is going to live in a lovely little cottage tucked away in the Taxon woods, were any unwary traveller can stumble upon her if they so wish. Coming close to getting eaten and pushing Drusilla in her own oven is optional but highly encouraged.

DG: DG is going to be the leader of Taxon's very own Wild Hunt. They're fairies from another world, but they visit the real world - in this case, the kingdom of Ye Olde Taxon - on occasion. Most of the time, they just want to have fun, but they also serve as protectors of the kingdom when necessary. Feel free to join her gang if you're interested!

Martha: Yeah, here it gets difficult. The wise woman / healer of the city? I'm not sure and I might just have her stay normal and put up with the chaos. Suggestions are welcome!

I have no idea! I wouldn't mind getting involved in some sort of shenanigans.

I'm not sure what to do with Riza. I want something to go along with the fact that she has her dog, but I don't have anything so far. Ideas, anyone?
