• HAVE YOURSELF A SPOOKY LITTLE CHRISTMAS...AND NEW YEAR’S...AND JANUARY: This month we’re introducing a long-range plot, symptoms of which will include thinking that they’ve seen a ghost. Or three. Or more. Details below!


• OBNOXIOUS CLICHE HOLIDAY-RELATED SHENANIGANS: GO! The aliens love Christmas. LOVE it. All of their source material tells them it is a time for Very Special Things of warmth, togetherness, and kissing people you probably shouldn’t. Expect some involuntary holiday cheer this month.

• PARTYING PARTYING: Prepare to loosen your belts and get your groove on, Taxon! There’s gonna be lots of festive decorations, free food, and free...tiny straw goats. It’ll make sense in time, probably.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
→ Your mods would like to start off with a hearty happy holidays to those who celebrate them, a merry end to exam season for those who celebrate THAT, and a pleasant December for everyone. It’s a hectic time of year for everyone, and we’re happy to be your temporary escape from holiday obligations/essays/what have you.

→ With the inevitable IRL busyness that comes with this time of year, we’re going to be doing some back-to-basics work and picking of your brains. Right now we have two info posts planned. One will be outlining all the things your character can do (and what you can do to your character) in the city: individual glitches, item petitions, and jobs. The other will be all about the Wiki! We know a few of you want to know more about how to work with it, and we’ll be happy to help to the best of our abilities.

→ Lastly, there is a player HMD post happening mid-month. This will be a time for the usual crit and/or praise, but as it is the last one for 2011 we’d like for folks to use the opportunity to figure out any dangling plot threads before going in to 2012.


AROUND THE CITY
→ Taxonia: As a reminder, the fairy tale AU event is going to last through December 6th. After that, Taxon is going back to its usual self...with added festiveness as outlined below.

→ Weather/atmosphere: As with November, the weather is staying with Sofie’s local climate: cold as heck, pitch dark by early afternoon and, finally, snow! Because of this, we’re going to be including some Swedish holiday traditions. Like the giant straw goat in the middle of Sanctuary Square in place of a Christmas tree. Sadly this goat is...just about guaranteed to be burned, dismantled or otherwise destroyed. Will the goat survive to Christmas? Only time will tell!

Also there is going to be a herd of reindeer walking the streets. Because why not. Bump into them anywhere.

→ Freebies: This month is all about the nomming, so food of all sorts is going to be free and plentiful this month! Also free this month are going to be miniature versions of the big goat for decorating purposes.

→ Ain’t no party like an O.Z. party:: Another year is drawing to a close according to the calendar, which of course means a tremendous hootenany, and two out of three Ozians think the Othersiders need to see how it’s done. Cain and Glitch are going to be throwing a party to celebrate Annual’s End, and it’s bound to be colorful, boisterous, and full of merriment. Especially when the headcase finally busts out the bottle of Dionysian wine he’s been hanging onto for almost two years.


AND THE SPIRITS DID IT ALL IN...OKAY IT’LL TAKE A WHILE
December’s plot event will draw heavily from the good ol’ tradition of scaring each other witless by telling the most gruesome of stories. Taxon will be haunted. Ghosts, mirages of lost loved ones, whispers in the wind, anything goes and everything is encouraged (within reason, of course). Maybe your characters will have strange dreams of home, or catch sight of someone they’ve lost - the haunting won’t be too intrusive, and the ghosts are just that. Non-intrusive reminders of what once was, what is, and what might be.

In addition, the city itself will be acting up. Trams skip stops, hatches take forever and a day to process your requests, and the tablet is not as smooth running as it normally is. It’s probably just a bug or something or other; maybe the hamsters need to get off their fat tushes and update the tablet interface.

All in all, brownie points go to amping up the creepy atmosphere. Think of it as a Scrooge-y Wintertime in Taxon. Should you wish for a stress free, no creepiness December, the haunting is completely opt-out-able. Go about your business as normal, have fun with the mistletoe (or was it the soft toffee candies?), and a Happy End of Year to one and all!

It is time for the third annual Glitched Holiday Decorations Extravaganza! In previous years, being in the proximity of a decorated tree would make one wish to give gifts to people, wreaths would make them sing carols, and mistletoe would do its thing with involuntary kissing. This year, because by now certain folks will be running around screaming about not standing under shrubbery with your enemy/object of forbidden lust/a total stranger, the aliens are mixing it up a bit. Kiss by the tree (or the giant straw goat)! Sing under the mistletoe! Suffer a wreath-induced shopping spree! Or, you know, any combination of the above. Basically the effects are randomized, so feel free to go wild...or ignore them completely.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot? Heck no!

Previously: Fixed his heart using the formidable power of his brain, applying copious amounts of logic, dancing, and tinkering with stuff until he snapped out of his funk. He's still anxious for the future but now he's come to terms with the past and is making the most of the present. Which involves a lot of side-eyeing Killjoys, assisting god-kings, inventing silly items, and...stuff.

Then he got glitched into a terrifying Rumpelstiltskin-like critter for the fairy tale AU and his days are numbered. Good times.

Glitch Plans: ALL OF THE FAIRY TALE LOOSE ENDS, LET US TIE THEM UP!

Basically he's gonna die and then get better and then there will be holiday decoration horrors. Who wants a smooch or a prezzie or a song?

Other Plans: He's got a lot of ghosts whom he can't rememebr them all but...creepily familiar faces will be appearing. Then there's goignt o be the big party at the end of the month which he'll be tearing around gleefully not coping with dying obsessing over. No solid plans, make stuff up at me.

Previously: I literally did nothing with Fitz last month. Nothing. I am handwaving some combination of catching the flu from the Killjoys and/or a pause glitch. To mark this fail I turned him into some sort of Fitz Van Winkle for fairy taleness and will try and get back into the swing of it but...his days may also be numbered (again), sorry :(

Glitch Plans: Faffing about for fairy tale stuff, mooching around Christmasly. Yeah.

Previously: All the troubles! She's been caught in two glitches so far which basically screwed with all of her memories. She's also been doing science for Mick & fiving up Dwight. And managing to go enjoy Bonfire Night and talk to friends. So... busy lady.

Glitch Plans: Once Upon A Taxon: I had an idea for this and now I'm just like... not sure any more. BUT I WILL DO SOMETHING WITH IT after this weekend as I won't be here this weekend EVEN IF I HAVE TO BACK DATE EVERYTHING.

Christmas: Helen has... plans. Unwitting plans. Ones that gave me giggles last night. Ladeeda. Yeah, I don't know what's going on for Christmas. SHE'S NOT HOSTING ANOTHER PARTY, after that last disaster. She's also not really decorating the Sanctuary.

Other Plans: December 8: Planned post of angst times. And after that she's going to get out of the Sanctuary a little more. Maybe visit some of the non-resident brought buildings. LIBRARY, BAR, COFFEE SHOPS, WATCH OUT. (Only the bar because Jenna works there, okay!) And ghosts? Oh, baby's got a lot of them. Which also coincides with my post hehehehehe.

Previously: He's been a busy one. He's welcomed Riza and Illyria, furthered his crazy crush on Gwen, is attempting to build a series of safehouses for Killjoys marked by certain graffiti (there is no way he's going to the Birdhouse now), had an amazing chat with Long by the fire, and then the iPod incident. Finally caught with it. He's kind of falling apart now that he's held it together for Kobra for so long and his paranoia is unfurling. Lost killjoy is lost, unfortunately that also means he's probably going to be a little more stupid dangerous.

Glitch Plans: I've yet to tag as Party in the fairy tale thing, but he's probably going to just reenact Little Red Riding hood, maybe hansel. I kind of fail for this glitch, sorry.

Other Plans: I'd really like Cain and Party to have a heart-to-heart, it might help him smooth things out. Kobra and Party need to finish up the whole conversation, too, and he definitely needs to meet Buffy. As for ghost glitches? If Krisi agrees on it, we may bring a teeny piece of Killjoy fanon around, as per the origins of their Little Girl and how she came to roll with the Danger Crew. Get ready for another angsty month, folks. D: Also, Kobra and Party are working on an anthem for Taxon to try and keep themselves busy.

Party's actually already doing Christmas gifts (we'll say he figured out what Christmas is with the help of Gwen or something?), so expect a bunch of them delivered your way. If he likes you, that is. Carols will probably come naturally for Party without a glitch, but this kissing thing must happen, mmmyes.

Helen might invite the boys in for Christmas. After managing to actually have a civil conversation with him she's getting a better opinion of them, and no one needs to be outside in the cold.

Previously: He's arrived in Taxon, thoroughly confused. Thanks to Long he's getting patched up by Helen, because legs in bear traps aren't cool. He's also said hello to Buffy.

Glitch Plans: Once Upon a Taxon: Everyone remember the fable with the thorn in the Lion's paw? Dwight looks like a lion (it's actually uncanny), so he's going to be doing that, save for a bear trap just because I'm mean. Possibly helping DG in the Great Hunt?

Christmas: I can't really see anything happen, since he's so new and doesn't really know anyone, but we'll see. He can't sing to save his life, so some carols might be embarrassing. As for the ghost part.. He already hallucinates his daughter, so that's kind of moot. Her popping up more frequently, though, that'll scare the big lug.

Other Plans: I..have no idea. Just no one shoot a gun in his direction. XD He's kind of a floater, anyway, content on just watching how things happen.

Glitch Plans: Currently doing the whole Little Mermaid thing with some differences. Totally improving so we'll see where that ends up. I've been pretty mean to her so I should probably have her get a happy ending for once. She'll be low-key for the creepy stuff...since there's not THAT many people she gave a crap about back home. Maybe a couple.

Other Plans: I'm so bad with planning ugh. She needs to like, get off her ass and realize Party's going downhill, for one. I might make her more actively seek a way to dull her powers, at least temporary. And I'm definitely going to glitch her into being full-on touchable and then have her kill someone (extra?) when the glitch ends for teh drama and other stuff.

Other Plans: Being lost, lost, lost. There'll be lots of questioning, lots of bitching, lots of trolling, seeking someone who can best help her understand things, or who can explain them to her in a rational, non-hateful or condescending or lowly-human emotional way. IDK im open for ideas.

Previously: Cain's been really enjoying himself this past month, actually. He went to Helen's party, felt really awkward, but got to know a bit more about the kid who pulled a gun on him a month earlier. Still not-sneaking around with Smecker; still worried that he shouldn't have told Glitch about Ambrose and any notions he may or may not have had towards him/them both. He's one of the people donating blood to Mick on a regular basis. Aaaand what else? THERE WAS DANCING AT THE BONFIRE! :D AND PLANS FOR A PARTAY!

He's trying to get to know more people, but with him it's always slow-going. I consider his progress hyoooooge. It's plenty fun.

Glitch Plans: Cain will be the Woodsman for the duration of the fairy tale glitch - afflicted with what most if not all will view as a curse: he can't feel pain. Furthermore, it's been so long since he could, that he's lost touch with his empathy. I'll be getting out a post for this tomorrow, actually. :D

And post-glitch? When Cain finds out a) Glitch is dead, and b) who's responsible...he'll be going after the filthy son of a bitch with silver buckshot. I'll work it so I don't rp with myself, rather get to indulge my inner writer and narrate a bunch. Cain'll need some heavy duty moral support, and Mick'll want to find a way to subdue the poor Ozian before he hurts someone (and not necessarily Mick, either).

Other Plans: I want more CR with everyone! I would for instance loooove to see more scenes with the few girls Cain considers his friends and allies: DG, Gwen, and Helen too. I think Cain and Beth could get along splendidly, both of them being of a research-y, investigative mindset.

I'd love to get more scenes with Long for both my characters; and Cain and Smecker is always fun and surprising me constantly (which I love). Moar Killjoys, even though Cain's Verily Cranky with at least one of them at any given moment.

Previously: Mick's been hanging around Beth's apartment under the pretense of acting chivalrous watchdog. "Sleeping on the couch" actually means "staying up all night" looking out windows and listening out for any manner of danger lurking outside. He's been going to Dr. Magnus' Sanctuary regularly for tests of different kinds - with varied results?

He's talked to Party about girls, with both brothers about being a vampire (and thus fulfilling a dream/fantasy of his to be able to talk about it without being judged), and...stalked people at the bonfire. I know I owe people tags everywhere, don't I? Poke me, and I'll get to them first thing tomorrow. Yay having a day off!

Glitch Plans: Mick's gonna be playing the part of the Big, Bad Wolf (only not in the huffing and puffing way, but rather in the BIG FRIGGIN' TEETH way). Engage at your own risk. He has a post for trolling/stalking/fun-or-awkward shenanigans. >:3

Other Plans: MORE SCENES WITH BETH PLEASE as soon as I get my tush in gear and get to my old tags. And the same goes for Mick as for Cain: I want more CR with everyone, new or not-so-new.

Previously: She's been busy not being in Taxon, and then bam, here she is. she's managed to get out of the hallway, so that's a big step in the right direction! She's also met Dwight, and has chatted with a few of the others (including willow).

Glitch Plans: I think that it'd be better for her to stay unglitched for this one, mostly because I'm still poking around.

Other Plans: Anything and everything? if there are christmas parties going on, she could show up there, and possibly linger on the sidelines eyeing people somewhat suspiciously. In the christmas spirit, of course.

Previously: The usual, really. Trolling, creepiness and more trolling. Dru was particularly delighted to see Buffy return to the city, though her excitement was short lived because she soon turned out to be the ‘wrong’ Buffy. Not that the vampire had time to sulk about that, because she soon distracted by the chaos of the fairy tale glitch.

Glitch Plans: Drusilla is, as I’ve said before, the creepy witch living in the heart of the forest in a cottage made of enchanted gingerbread. Her main plot line will involve luring in one – or both? – of the Killjoy brothers before trying to cook one in the oven and being pushed in herself in retaliation. Other shenanigans before her fairy tale death are welcome, if you’re interested.

Other Plans: Well, Drusilla has died before so she’ll probably take that particular development in her stride. If anything, she’ll be a bit confused when the Killjoys decide that they don’t want to be ‘friends’ with her any more. As for Christmas itself, she’ll befriend the ghosts that haunt the city and will be available for mistletoe horrors should anyone be interested. I’m looking at you, Fitz.

Previously: She and Glitch had some much needed fluffy times. She also spent time with her friends and included her quest to draw Kobra out of his shell. And, best of all, she didn’t get arrested once!

Glitch Plans: I’ve not had a chance to do anything with her yet, unfortunately, but DG is going to be the leader of Taxonia’s very own wild hunt. She’s a fairy type from a world that lies just next to Taxon and, as well as guarding her own realm, acts as an unofficial protector of the city. And she certainly doesn’t visit in order to see Glitch, who was advisor to the Queen in the time before his exile.

Other Plans: Well, fairy tale DG is going to be upset about Glitch’s death and actual DG is going to be devastated. There will be anger. There will be tears. And then, to top it all off, there will be ghosts and mistletoe shenanigans. Should be a fun month.

Previously: Not enough, really. I’ve neglected her as usual, though I have a few posts bookmarked to tag ASAP. Basically, she’s been doing what she usually does, which involves quiet and sensible doctor things. (And, less sensibly, trying to get the Killjoys to look after themselves.)

Glitch Plans: After much flapping around and indecisiveness, I’ve decided to make Martha the town healer. She’ll live in a little hut with lots of herbs hanging from the ceiling and occasionally – and unwisely, perhaps – wander into the forest to collect supplies. Shenanigans are welcome.

Other Plans: Ghosts and mistletoe and doctor-y things. She’s going to continue her quest to look after the Killjoys (whether they want it or not) and will, hopefully, continue her work with Helen as well.

Glitch is going to try and be massively unphazed about dying, logic-ing that it "wasn't really him" and that he doesn't have time/energy for another nervous breakdown. So lots of throwing himself into holiday festivities and manic glee and waking up screaming.

GHOSTS: I'm thinking of the Queen and Az and possibly...okay, definitely Raw. And then for the companions their respective Doctors and co-companions.

Previously: Beth has been doing her best to talk to more people since she arrived, to learn as much as she can about the city, but doing it in her normal-charming-self way. She's also, much to his chagrin, offered to help Mick with his blood situation. She refuses to let something bad happen again, for him to have that on his conscience, when she can help him.

Glitch Plans: Beth is going to watch as everyone else goes wonko with the Once Upon a Taxon glitch. She's really going to start to understand just how crazy the city can be. As for the haunted Taxon plot, I am ridiculously excited. I love the idea of having the past, being kidnapped, come back to haunt her.

Other Plans: More Mick interaction!!! And, of course, her getting to know more and more peoples. Thanks to everyone who has jumped in to talk to Beth!

Glitch Plans: Dragon, dragon, dragon. Post going up... soon. He's going to be hanging in the forest, with a cave of goodies, and may need a princess or two to kidnap for pleasant conversation. Heroes Welcome to Approach, if you don't mind being Talked At as he attempts reasonable discourse instead of firebreathing.

Other Plans: So while it doesn't necessarily have to happen this month, and can instead be fallout down the road, I'd love for someone to bother Long about, hey, you've been a dragon twice now, isn't that funny. Just so he can be awkward and embarrassed and try horribly to change the subject.
Aside from that, I am as always open for anything with him that people want or need. Tea, drinks, talk-- he so loves to talk, if nobody hadn't noticed this yet-- telling stories, sage advice and counsel, being mocked for being a stuffed shirt, whatever.

Previously: Dien has been pretty faily. He got very pissed at Party Poison for stealing his mp3 player, told the city about it, and scrubbed Beethoven off his wall, and really that's... been it. He has been grumpy and not liking the colder weather.

Glitch Plans: Paul is going to be unaffected! I guess he just wasn't fabulous enough for the aliens to Fairyize. He will be sitting around with a coffee being cynical and tired and snarky.

Other Plans: I need to get back on the horse with Paul. Sofie, I know we keep saying let's thread, but, let's do that. Promise. Paul and glitched!cain for Teh Awkward? I feel Paul's IC relationships, tenuous as they are, have lapsed a lot. Some of his people are gone, others he just hasn't talked to in ages, so. I will try and make things happen. If anyone wants his SO VERY PLEASANT personality, just ask.

It would sort of be wonderful to get more CR between all our characters, but I'll keep it in this one spot for ease of repping:

Mick and Long for tea, and bemoaning the inability to imbibe it. Also, I can see dragon!Long and wolf!Mick having a brief encounter. Wolfie will be doing some investimagation, and who better to ask of pixie names than the most ancient and wise of all?

Cain and Long for librarying. They are lovely, and Cain appreciates his non-intrusive company and font of knowledge on all things Otherside that he is.

Woodsman and Paul, for one-sided awkwardness and two-sided confuzzlement. And I think I've tentatively figured a way for Cain to get his guts in gear and just hand over his hand written note (and yes, it does feel like basic education all over again). A ghostly friend will give him the nudge he needs, during the upcoming glitch.

Previously: Kaylee's mostly been working, with a hint of plotting/meeting with Party and Kobra about the radio tower, and other hints of welcoming newcomers.

Glitch Plans: Going to be posting Kaylee's bit for the fairytale as soon as I finish taking Gramma shopping. Going with the Rapunzel-y thing in the tower, dreaming she could fly off to the stars, etc etc.

She will probably be freaking the hell out when it comes to the Spirit bit, woot.

Other Plans: Hope LJ stays nice to me for more than five seconds, finish backtags. I do want to discuss and/or continue what might happen during this radio tower meeting, and definitely have Kaylee begin work on it between craziness. Up for everything because I finally can get an LJ page to load again.

Previously: Arrived in Taxon, wondered at the technology, and then settled in somewhat awkwardly with her foster-brother (Briar) because she isn't sure if they're still arguing or not.

Glitch Plans: I don't know that I'll put up a post for Sandry for the fairytale at this point, but I will definitely throw her at some other people. She'll be mute, emotionless and sewing shirts in most encounters, so if you need some creep for your characters...

The ghost glitch she'll spend wondering how Tris' magic is bleeding over again when she isn't even here, and then she'll...probably spaz out. Yup.

Other Plans: Getting Sandry settled is a big one, obviously. She will have plenty of questions to ask, but they will all wait until after the fairytale glitch finishes.
