OK, so there's this thing...
Can someone please explain Plurk to me?
I know, this is a total OMG!N00b question. But I'm lucky to be able to keep up with Google+, Twitter, FB, and lord knows I haven't looked at Tumblr in DAYS.
Please help this old lady out :)

Plurk is like if AIM and Twitter had a baby.
It's meant for short, quick comments in real time, as there is a character limit to it. But you can ping someone to reply to a comment later if there is a time zone difference, or what have you and you can carry on a conversation in real time as well. You can share images, gifs and the like as well there and you can also lock your plurk to private so only friends and the like can see it.
You can also scroll back throughout the day/past days to see what you missed.
I think that's about it. /sucks at explaining things

I sort of describe it as having multiple chat windows open at once, each with its own little topic which invariably gets derailed, as all chats do. You can view your own plurks as well as those of your friends/people you follow on your timeline, and you can scroll through and comment or read up on something if it catches your interest.
It's been The Huge Thing in RP for a while and has mostly replaced gamechats as a means of contact, but I don't feel like it's as essential in Taxon as it apparently is in a lot of other games (mostly because only one out of three mods has succumbed to its wiles). From what I understand there are places where things are brought up on plurk and only dragged onto the OOC comm as an afterthought, whereas here it's the reverse.
Basically it's another point of contact filled with memes and animated gifs and idle chatter. Today I've used mine to play-by-play responses to the tl;dr meme, squee to myself a little about RP continuity, and speculate on the "what kind of RPer are you" test. Apparently I'm The Director but I've dubbed myself The Lazyass Threadropper.
