How's My Driving: Player (And Game) Edition!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to those who celebrate! Remember: don't drink and how's my drive.

This is a combined player and game HMD, which means your mods are going to be begging for feedback. We're feeling a little disconnect and want to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves as much as possible. Specifically we're looking for feedback on the Haunted Holo plot, and what we can do in the future to make such large-scale plots more accessible.

It's also an HMD for our characters! Please comment here with the names of the characters you play and others will reply with their feedback- and it's obviously a given that this feedback will be helpful, constructive and respectful. Also, as amazing as getting ILU comments is, it's nice to hear why and what we're doing right just as much as criticism needs to be constructive. Participation is also entirely optional, and if you have any issues just let a mod know and we'll help out as much as we can.

I'd really like to see Martha out more. idk if it's a muse thing or not, but she's awful quiet!

That's probably 'an Emma being useless' thing, really. Since DG and Drusilla are easier for me to write, Martha is the one that generally gets pushed aside when I'm busy or stressed for whatever reason. I keep working to fix that!

I know from my own experience that chars like Martha, who are... I guess more 'saintly' than others... can be a lot harder to write (I was talking just the other day that 'Lawful Good' is really hard to make interesting. IDK if Martha qualifies as Lawful Good in your lights, but compared to DG and Dru she is definitely moreso, hee!), and in many ways a lot less 'fun' too. Like you've got a choice between writing DG on a motorcycle and Martha sorting medicines, WELL.

With the aftermath of Paul's injuries I hope we can stick in some Martha and Paul threads. :D

Bearing sort of on the difficulties of playing LG chars... I sometimes find that I still have a kind of a loose grip on Martha's character and personality. Full confession, I watched like one ep of DW in my life and it wasn't one that featured Martha, so everything I know about her is 10% fandom osmosis and 90% your Martha in Taxon, and sometimes I catch myself going, Okay, I know she's a doctor and very altruistic, I know she cares about people and wants to help them... and then I stop cuz I realize that is sort of all I know about her.

I'd love to see more of the meat of the character, flaws and all, if Martha has any ;). Things that would make her feel more like a person to me and less like, idk, messianic-saves-world-from-the-Master-in-running-for-sainthood, I guess? Although from my fandom osmosis that does seem to be who she is, idk!

Argh, I completely missed this. I would have replied - slowly, but eventually - earlier if I'd seen it.

And that is definitely the right way of putting it. And she is a bit of a saves-world-from-the-Master messiah type. It's a problem. Especially since many of her flaws are tied up with characters who aren't here. (Her crush and dauntless - even when he doesn't really deserve it - faith in the Doctor, for example.) But I think the Holo Taxon plot has opened up a few interesting things, so that's a start. I'll certainly do what I can!
