How's My Driving: Player (And Game) Edition!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to those who celebrate! Remember: don't drink and how's my drive.

This is a combined player and game HMD, which means your mods are going to be begging for feedback. We're feeling a little disconnect and want to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves as much as possible. Specifically we're looking for feedback on the Haunted Holo plot, and what we can do in the future to make such large-scale plots more accessible.

It's also an HMD for our characters! Please comment here with the names of the characters you play and others will reply with their feedback- and it's obviously a given that this feedback will be helpful, constructive and respectful. Also, as amazing as getting ILU comments is, it's nice to hear why and what we're doing right just as much as criticism needs to be constructive. Participation is also entirely optional, and if you have any issues just let a mod know and we'll help out as much as we can.

Anonymous commenting is enabled and IP logging is off for your convenience should you require it!

I'm aware that I've been having some activity issues. Honestly, I'm quite a slow tagger, and while I love the delicious responses to my posts and am always glad for interaction, I tend to accumulate backtags and then fall out of touch because I know if I post something new I will accumulate not one but a bunch of new threads. (for instance, the 4 I have yet to tag in Briar's haunted holo post. *facepalms*)

I've been thinking about the issue, and the possible solution I've come up with is this.

I was wondering if other players would be open to combining subthreads in my posts. In other words, I'd start a post, and say I'm cool with x number of subthreads, however many I think I can handle based on my RP/RL situation at the time. I would mark a comment subject line with closed/character names if I had plans for a subthread, but otherwise, I'm open to threading with multiple other characters in one of the threads.

I don't want to limit my characters' CR, and I want to play with all of you (because you are all lovely and your writing and characters make me so happy), but me being overwhelmed isn't conducive to managing that. I got a little too stressed out to tag. Most of that stress was for RL reasons, but RL anxiety just means that it's all the more important to find ways to minimize stress in RP when I can.

I've got to tag you. Or maybe you've got to tag me. Something.

I think that's a viable system. Really, any way for you to cut down stress is okay with me since the entire idea's to be having fun here. And know if you're not up for a post but want to play, tagging in is always an option. That gives you a bit more control over what you're doing, and I know that sort of thing helps me deal with anxiety /cuddles

I love love Briar! I appreciated you jumping in on her thread in the library and it was just very easy to interact with you/him. I know accumulating backtags can get overwhelming, ESPECIALLY when you have RL stuff to contend with. There are times I've got 6 or 7 tags I owe, and if I'm in a certain zone, I can get them. But if some of them are older or I'm just stressed or can't get in my character's mindset or for whatever reason, they just sit there and glare at me and put more pressure on me.

BUT as Keri said, the point of this is to have fun fun fun! So whatever works for you, and if you wanna put up a little disclaimer asking for only a certain number of tags, so be it! I agree with her that tagging in on a thread or two instead of putting up an entry if you're not in the mood might be less overwhelming since you can control the number of interactions obviously.

Hey. Hey, do you guys do the thing where have this One Tag and you tell yourself "okay self, do this One Tag and then you can do the rest of them"? And for some reason the One Tag becomes this TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE task and you stare at it for days and you just can't brain anything about it, but it is the One Tag you told yourself you have to do? Meanwhile another four or....in my case DOZEN tags have piled up and everything hurts and nothing is beautiful?

Yeah, that's me >.>

ONE TAG TO START THEM ALL! ONE TAG TO FIND THEM! ONE TAG TO BRING THEM ALL, AND IN MY PROSE BIND THEM!

...except then it turns out to be a plastic replica of the One Tag. ...or I get too intimidated to use it.

I have no idea where this comment is going or where it's coming from.

I've also had activity issues! Look we have things in common!

To echo everyone else, do what you're comfortable with. I really love Long's interactions with both Kitten and Briar, and I need to throw Long back at the comm now that he is all ALIVE again.

I will admit, I was hesitant when I first saw the app for Kitten. I was like, hoo boy, how is the player going to work this, and so I determined to watch. I have been only pleased and delighted with the RP that has resulted. <3 All the win!

I adore Long. I want all the CR, forever. *latches onto you and your character*

What precisely were you concerned about? I'm rather curious. Was it the language thing? Kitten's been my favorite character to play for long enough that I usually can't even remember why I was ever apprehensive about her. Balancing dialogue and narration is actually really difficult for me; Kitten is a lovely break from that when she's not talking to a telepath, so as soon as I fall into a good brainspace for coming up with nonverbal signals, her tags come so much more easily than other tags.
