I haven't been able to play as much as I want with River (which is mainly my own tagfail and the evils of RL), and that's sad because I adore your River. I think you do a wonderful job of getting inside her head and understanding how she would see the world and respond to it, and then putting that into language that just sounds so River. I really enjoy reading her and I like that you've been playing her for a good while and are still consistent with the way you write.

Okay well first off, you know how much I adore your Lex in a general sense. But to be specific, I really like how you balance caution with curiosity in him, and I'm looking forward to MORE LEX. Especially plotty shenanigans. ♥

Also BLEH, I left out half of what I wanted to say about Lex (ffff brainmush), but BASICALLY. Although I haven't had much contact with him in Taxon I know your Lex very well from museboxes and I can say that he is amazing. He's smart and ambitious but he's also vulnerable too, and you really show how he's a good man put on a bad path. I look forward to seeing you bring out all the subtle layers here in Taxon.

Dan is lovely, I think you have his mild awkwardness and his just basic "nice guy" thing down really well, but he isn't just that, you give him nuances that suggest more. I'd love to see him do something badass in Taxon sometime, to show that side of him. And I adore his interactions with Rorschach especially.

Jason is from a canon I'm not familiar with, so I can't really speak to that aspect, but I really like how he's such a 'guy', and how he's a little goofy and maybe not so bright sometimes, but he's not dumb, and he's not just a goof. I want to see more interactions between him and Sookie (I need to go back and stalk older threads)!

/hopes this all makes sense, words are not totally my friend today X[

I think you're doing a wonderful job with Rorschach! He has a very unusual manner of speaking, and I think you present it really well, without going over the top, if that makes sense. I know I would never be able to sustain his voice for any length of time, so it's very impressive to me that you manage to do it. And beyond that you also present his thoughts in meta in a way that really brings across his mindset, and his views on the world. I've enjoyed especially his kind of not-friends, not-enemies interactions with Adrian, which have an almost dysfunctional-family feeling to them.

I know nothing about Don's canon, but I'm starting to feel like I need to fix this, and that right there should say a lot about how interesting you make him. I like his sort of dry resignation toward everything he does, and you can almost feel a kind of weariness in him. I especially adore his interactions with Mattie, how he sort of reluctantly has taken on the role of 'present adult' in her life.

DON'T BE UNSURE. I have to say that I love having a character like Puck around. Having someone with a personality the polar opposite of the usual kind you find around games, jamjar and not, is very refreshing. And I love that you don't hold back with him. Of course, my experience in playing against your Puck is somewhat more extended than others since I've tagged with him in museboxes, but still! He's fabulous and so are you, and I can't wait to see more of him around. ♥

Yes, I need to get Liz out there more. That's one of my main goals for this upcoming month, since I'm still working on establishing more solid CR with her.

kdjflaskjdflkajsf that makes me so happy to hear, you have no idea. While I've felt confident in Stefan's actions, I've also been rather paranoid that the justification for his actions in my head weren't coming across clear in the narrative. I've been trying to meta as often as possible in regards to his direction and the reasons behind why he's picked that path, so those outside the drama who can't see the outline for it have more insight. tl;dr: I'm glad it seems to be coming off that way.

;______; ♥

I'm largely unfamiliar with Watchmen outside of what googlefu tells me, so I can't comment on Dan. I can, however, comment on your other two. It's been a long time since I watched Smallville, especially the earlier seasons, but I think you've got a great grasp on his voice. And Jason, oh man your Jason. He continues to amaze me with how much you pay attention to Jason's core - how he aims to do good, cares deeply for his family, etc. - while not ignoring his more derpy traits without letting that drown out the other elements of his characterization. I absolutely love your take on him.

IN SHORT YOU'RE DOING FABULOUS, KEEP IT UP. ♥

I'm going to skip over Lex, since I'm familiar with the character only in the broadest sense. (Well, and I know HE'S NOT TO BE ALLOWED NEAR CAKES.)

As you're aware, I don't know Jason's canon, but I love how effortlessly you convey how good-natured he is--he may not be a hero in the dramatic, must-save-everyone way, but his eagerness to help people (even if it's just by setting them at ease) comes across in all his tags. I don't really have much in the way of crit--you've done a good job of having him interact with a variety of people, which is nice because you can explore sides of his personality other than "doofus." And I love that he and Loki are rooming together! I think that's just perfect. Oh, and thumbs up on not equating "not the brightest bulb in the box" with "entirely devoid of common sense."

Daaaaaaan--he's still pretty new, but I like what I've seen and I look forward to reading more from our burgeoning Watchmen cast. The one thing I'd like to see is him starting to take notice of or put together all the alternate universe stuff--I'm rusty on the canon, but think the cars in the Watchmenverse are all electric and people smoke pipe-things instead of cigarettes. And, you know, the whole looming threat of nuclear annihilation thing. I appreciate that he's not running around going "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER HAD COSTUMED HEROES WHERE YOU'RE FROM" to everyone in sight, but I'd like to get more of a sense that he's coming from a different world.

I LOVE NARVIN

I don't know anything about his canon, but I will pounce on his threads because they're so funny (your narration is priceless) and his attitude is so terrible (I mean this as a compliment). I DEMAND MORE.

[identity profile] gogogidget.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT I'VE SAID ALREADY so i will try to find new things. /knuckle crack

damon → you do an absolutely wonderful job accentuating his pseudo-redemptive arc through his relationships with other characters and reactions. like, really absolutely wonderful. you've struck this impressive balance between his emotional toddler tantrums and that slow leaking attempt to be good that i love.

dawn → this might be something i've said before idr but. i love the way you've had her mature, not just in taxon but regarding her place in the comics and how you've taken that canon point (ridic though the comics may be) and given dawn this much natural-feeling development.

faith → you are fantastic. again, you've taken a character joss steamrolled the characterization of for the sake of really shitty arcs and made her a full, real, very human character instead of the bad girl cutout. i'm still amazed by how much research you put into her past that i think for anyone else would've been easy to ignore or forget about, but you built that framework and apply it logically to what she does.

sookie → SUKEH! again you've taken a character that can be annoying and write-off-able and made her so real. she's a person with opinions and feelings without it being some southern stereotypical hot mess of messery.

my only negative crit is that the universe needs to let you play more which is not your fault, so brb kicking the universe in the shins for you. ♥

Oh gosh! How happy am I that you decided to join Taxon? SO HAPPY. I am probably about as happy as Dan would be at a grandpa sweater free-for-all. THAT IS A LOT OF HAPPINESS.

For real though, Rorschach is SUCH a difficult character to pull off and I think you do him justice nicely. It's also great that you have played him both with and without his face, it's good to see how that changes him. I especially enjoy his interactions with Dan because I am selfish and enjoy their kind of but not exactly rad bromance. It's a relationship that has history and complications and you take that into consideration with every tag. I have nothing but positives to say!

DON'T GET KILLED!

honestly, though, your willow is amazing. you do a fantastic job, from dealing with her issues with magic and the fallout there to how she handles taxon itself on the day to day. keep on being totally awesome. ♥

first off, the accent thing with jayne has improved so much since last hmd ♥

ALSO, wrt amy, i love the way you've shown her genuine caring for other people without compromising her abrasiveneness. i'd really like to see her taking the lead more often, too, which is a direct result of me watching 'the beast below' just now. MAKE PEOPLE ABDICATE THEIR THRONES, AMY.

STOP MAKING ME JEALOUS OF ADVENTURES no that is a lie never stop that not ever.

idk enough about fitz to say anything other than that there should be a karaoke night. an awesome karaoke night full of hilarity.

glitch, though, is amazing always. he is such a difficult character and you do a fantastic job of showing the half-brainedness rather than just playing him as silly and just saying "BTW HE IS MISSING BRAIN PARTS." you incorporate it and his history with it so well i am super impressed always.

sob idk bones so i can't say much about brennan other than ilher.

KATHERINE THOUGH oh my lord.

you really set the bar for playing a character that is manipulative and ruthless while remaining sympathetic and actually motivated by things rather than just. catty to be catty or something.

hi i haven't slept but you are awesome.

aly seriously.

you have taken so much in stride wrt past cr buffy had and forging new relationships with people that are so very true to buffy and how she behaves and reasons things out when reacting to the stuff she deals with in taxon.

basically you are great and you should have lots of fun this weekend. ♥

WHAT CAN I SAY THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN SAID? you do such a wonderful job with him and making sure he's not completely unscathed but not a wounded bird, either. the only thing i could want is for him to get out for and make more tablet-y posts for people to respond to.

Unfortunately I don't know Mattie's (though I've loved to read her threads and her reactions to everything) or Adrian's canons at all (I really do need to check Watchmen out soon). However, Dogma I do know, and in my opinion, you have nothing to worry about in regards to Loki's voice, you're doing great! You strike a really good balance between all the sides of him; the brash, blunt dickhead with serious issues and the kind of easily excited, more laid-back guy who just likes his movies and video games. You also incorporate the uncertainty, for lack of better word, of not having Bartleby around to sort of guide him along - or to hold him back, whichever fits better. What I'm trying to say is that you are mindful of all these different facets to the character and to me, it comes across in his threads in a way that feels very much in character.

Carlee Carlee Carlee ilu.

Sadly I know nothing about Angela's canon, so I can't really say anything definitive about her. And I can only remember bits and pieces about Dark Angel when I caught a sporadic episode on tv here and there, so I can't for certain comment on her characterization (although based on your skill with Elena, I daresay it's very likely just wonderful) but I've really loved to follow her threads with everyone. I loved the thread with her and Katherine (which I... need to tag back today, oh god my tag!fail) and am also kind of interested about what will happen with this thing with Damon.

But Elena. Goodness, Car, I continue to be amazed by your handling of Elena, I really am. She's exactly the character we know and love and wouldn't have any other way (/side-eyes late s2 grumpily). I do not think it's hyperbole in the least to say I think your Elena is (still) the best one I've seen around ljrp, your characterization of her is wonderful. The work and insight you and Rumi both put into the Elena/Stefan dynamic is absolutely gorgeous, I always adore their threads.

tl;dr, You're doing it so right and I count myself very lucky to have you as a castmate. ♥

[identity profile] ebsolutely.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Your River is just amazing, in my opinion. The way you handle her idiosyncrasies and difficulties in expressing herself and to be understood is wonderful. You have her act true to the character down to the way you have her move, think and most importantly, speak. A lot of times River-players seem to either try too hard to make her sound all ~mysterious~ and turn everything she says into gibberish or then they don't try enough and just make her sound kind of dull and flat. But I think you've found an excellent balance in the middle that is just right. Clearly you've put a lot of thought and care into her characterization and it shows. I also adore the fact that you don't gloss over the fact that River can be a horrible little troll and a brat when she feels like it. A+, lady.

Basically, keep being epic. ♥

[identity profile] stepintoshadows.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I LURVE YOUR ADRIAN. He is amazing and I can just SEE everything you do with him actually happening. And I especially love the fact that you took him from SO FAR AHEAD even though I will admit I was initially skeptical. It just adds a whole extra dimension of sketch and manipulation and Evil, and it's beautiful. And perfect. And your meta-thoughts for him makes me giggle. Consistently. Because they are SO ACCURATE.

I have nothing to say about Mattie, sorry; I don't know the character and haven't stalked her enough over here, soooo I can provide no crit or adoration of any kind. But your Loki is similarly fantastic; you get that whole snarkfest and intentional mind-fucking/Devil's Advocate fascination that is his worldview and general core-of-being, but you still manage to work in the fact that he's seen just about everything and GETS the way things work. It's a balance not many people seem to be able to strike consistently in ANY character that has that kind of dichotomy, so my hat is off to you. I LOVE the radio show, it's just so...HIM.

I'M SORRY THERE IS NO CONCRIT HERE, ONLY LUFF. I am terrible at finding faults. :/

OH GOSH. YOU. I LOVE YOU.

Adrian Adrian Adrian. I cannot get enough! I'm so happy that my picking up Dan ended up being the catalyst for this madness! Like I've said before, it's super interesting for me to play two entirely different characters who interact with him. I get to see firsthand so many different sides of him, which is entirely delightful with such a layered character. He has a genuine friendship and camaraderie with Dan and a... I have no idea what the fuck it is with Lex. But I know I like it. The constant push and pull of power plays, manipulation, and respect is so much fun. This is the guy that just destroyed New York 35 minutes ago and you make him very real. Also echoing the PSC FOREVAH!

oh geez, look at me write so many WORDS

Loki! Another roommate buddy! I admit that I haven't seen Dogma in forever and you don't know True Blood at all but we still vibe like peas and carrots! Loki is loads of fun but also has much more to him than just "lol Batman Ratdude." It's easy to write off someone like Loki as one note and you don't at all, taking a more difficult but satisfying path in his characterization.

Mattie's canon is new to me so I am not as acquainted with her in my media brainspace but from what I've seen I think she is rad. The only thing I would suggest is have her poke at more people, which I realize might be hard to do. A+ on her collecting alcoholics.

[identity profile] stepintoshadows.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
YOUR DANNNNN <3 I cannot express how much I LUFF HIM. I have never had the opportunity to play with another Dan (apparently the Dan-appreciation levels are low, and this saddens me), but I cannot possibly contemplate playing with any other one now. Evenifyouareslowwithtagssometimes. RLishard. IforgiveyouDarwin. His sweaters. His nerd-dom. His owl love. His complete and utter average-ness. THE NOT-QUITE-BROMANCE. You do them all, and do them awesomely. I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE PLOTZ IN THE FUTURE.

I wish I had things to say about Lex. Alas, I know next to nothing about him aside from the obvious and haven't played with him/stalked his threads in game, soooo I have no comments at all. Sorry. :/ I plan to fix this soonish though! Same with Jason, although you have my undying love for having picked him up. XD

[identity profile] ebsolutely.livejournal.com 2011-04-23 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You are an insanely talented writer, first off. I'm always amazed by the level of description you manage to convey without just a few choice words. Second, what comes across in your writing is the obvious care you put in. You don't just have the character say or do something, but you also take the time to expound on why they say or do something, which I personally appreciate a lot.

I still haven't seen Star Trek so I can't really say much about Kirk aside from the fact that I do like to read his threads. Liz is just lovely and sounds exactly like she does in the show. I like that you're taking your time acclimating her into Taxon, it seems very IC for her especially considering her initial disbelief and suspicion upon arriving. My opinion on your Angel has not changed since the last HMD, for he is still awesome - the Angelus glitch was pure win. I'm seriously amazed how well you juggle the dual voices.

And then Stefan, oh my god. Rumi, I've said this before and I'll say it again; best Stefan I've seen. I love so much that you're playing up his ruthless side with this ploy with Katherine, it's working out beautifully. A lot of times people seem to forget that Stefan is actually not the perfect, "good" brother, and I love it that you're incorporating this so essentially in your characterization of him. I know you've expressed concern on whether or not Stefan's motivation on doing this with Kat reads as being OOC for outsiders, but I honestly don't think you need to worry about that. You weave in his true feelings and reasoning so wonderfully in the narration that there's no mistaking what's really going on with that. I'm so glad to have you as a castmate! ♥
